The current president addressed the hate crime against Empire actor Jussie Smollet by what is believed to have been a group of his supporters wearing ski masks. Now, Donald Trump is condemning the crime, calling it ‘horrible.’
As you may know, Smollett was the victim of a vicious attack motivated by his race and sexual orientation and Trump is finally breaking his silence on what happened.
Journalist April Ryan asked the leader of the free world about it and here’s what he had to say!
According to the White House pool report, Trump did not defend the attackers in any way and instead, he admitted: ‘That I can tell you is horrible. It doesn’t get worse.’
The actor needed medical attention after two men beat him up, poured an unknown chemical substance over him and even put a noose around his neck while shouting racial and homophobic slurs at him.
Police have reported that the attackers even told him that there is no place for him in the ‘MAGA country.’
The Chicago Police Department released an official statement via HollywoodLife saying: ‘Two unknown offenders approached him and gained his attention by yelling out racial and homophobic slurs towards him.’
Those details given, the authorities are currently investigating the attack as a possible hate crime.
The Empire actor ended up with a swollen face, a cut under his eye, as well as a broken rib but is fortunately in a good condition at this time.
It is safe to say things could have ended much worse since the assailants reportedly put a noose around his neck.
