Shania Twain was born Eilleen Regina Edwards on August 28, 1965, in Windsor, Ontario, to Sharon and Clarence Edwards. She was born as one of three daughters and has two sisters named Jill and Carrie Ann.
When she was two years old, her parents got divorced and she moved to Timmins, Ontario, with her mother. There, her mother remarried Jerry Twain, who is an Ojibwa from the nearby Mattagami First Nation. Together, they welcomed a son named Mark, together.
Later, her stepfather Jerry adopted her and her sisters and legally changed their surname to Twain. Her mother and stepfather also adopted Jerry’s baby nephew Darryl when his mother died.
