Teri Hatcher is one of those people I tend to dislike on general principle. I have no real reason to dislike her, really. She hasn’t done anything – to my memory – that has really offended me. I guess I just think she’s kind of overrated as an actress and celebrity, plus I’ve always had a suspicion that she’s had extensive plastic surgery, although she’s always denied it. But seriously – she looks totally different now than she did in that James Bond movie. Weird.
Anyway, Teri is trying to win me over, I guess. She’s posted a few photos on Facebook and Twitter and made even stronger denials that she’s not doing Botox. She posted nine photos of herself in various stages of makeup-less frowny-faces, showing off her ability to emote. Do you buy it?
Teri Hatcher says she’s banned Botox. The 45-year-old actress posted a photo album on Facebook Monday night titled “Oy with the Botox!” featuring nine pics of herself wrinkling up her face.
Writes Hatcher, who is makeup free and dripping from the shower, “Thought about all those damn critics of my face. Love it or hate it, my face that is, [it’s] no surgery, no implants… no matter what ‘they’ say. Decided I’d shoot myself in to reveal some truths about “beauty” and hope it makes you all easier on yourself.”
Hatcher admits she’s used fillers in the past. “Did I every toy with fillers or Botox over the years? Yes. Tell me does this look Botoxed to you? Yes I am alone in my bathroom naked in a towel on behalf of women everywhere trying to make a point. Women YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL.”
In one photo of Hatcher furrowing her brow, she writes, “I can be mad, or confused, or sad and tired. Julia Roberts had that same vein in her forehead in Eat Pray Love. Proud of Julia for being a real woman on a real journey.”
Hatcher then offers recommendations on how to look younger in photos.
“Just me wanting to teach that all those glam versus trash pictures of celebs are about LIGHTING. It’s not makeup, it’s not surgery or Botox…. Flat front light in your face, especially sun setting [or] 4pm light blows out all wrinkles and imperfections. Overhead light [and] sun… casts shadows under your eye from your brow, making you look tired. Shoot all family reunion photos [with] the camera man… holding the camera a little higher than your eye line.”
She also Twitters a new Desperate Housewives promo shot of herself: “This is shot by Matthew Rolston with his wonderful lighting (and no Botox)… You create your own paradise or prison. Being happy inside is all that matters… See something in the mirror you love every day.”

Um… sure. Julia has the veiny forehead, as does La Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker and lots of other women. The vein doesn’t bother me. On some people, it’s prominent, on others, not so much. What bothers me is that this is the most “emoting” Teri has done in years. If she’s about to scrunch up her forehead now, why wasn’t she doing it on Desperate Housewives? Hm? Oh, well. I’m not going to bash her, honestly. She’s trying to send out the right message, and honestly, she’s pretty brave for putting these photos out. So… well done, Teri.
